By plane
The closest airports to Salamanca are Valladolid (Villanubla) and Madrid (Adolfo Suárez-Barajas). Though further away, there are other large airports in Barcelona, Málaga, Alicante-Elche, Oporto (Portugal) and Lisbon (Portugal).
Madrid Airport
Salamanca is 210 km west of Madrid. There are regular train and bus connections.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport is the biggest one nearest to Salamanca.
There are several ways to get here from Barajas airport:
- Taxi (around €30 to the centre of Madrid):
- to either Chamartín or Príncipe Pío train station.
- to Estación Sur bus station in Madrid.
- Direct bus to Salamanca.
- Cercanías trains:
- There is a Cercanías station in terminal 4 (T4) with various services running frequently between terminals 1, 2 and 3 and T4.
- The Cercanías lines C1 and C10 stop at Chamartín (3 stops, about 20 minutes) and Príncipe Pío (10 stops, about 45 minutes) train stations. They also stop at Nuevos Ministerios (4 stops), where you can change to the Metro to take line 6 (circular) as far as Méndez Álvaro (Estación Sur bus station in Madrid).
- The ticket from the airport to the centre of Madrid costs €2.60.
- Metro: it is necessary to buy a public transport card (e.g. the Multi card, which costs €2.50) and then top it up with the ticket for your chosen destination (€1.50-€2.50). If you take the metro from the station at the airport, you will need to add on the airport supplement (€3).
- For Chamartín train station you can take line 8. It takes you to the “Nuevos Ministerios” stop, where you need to change to line 10 in the direction of Tres Olivos. The journey usually takes about 35 minutes.
- For Príncipe Pío train station you can also take line 8. It takes you to the “Nuevos Ministerios” stop, where you need to change to line 10 in the direction of Puerta Sur. The journey usually takes about 40 minutes.
- For Estación Sur bus station in Madrid, you need to change to line 6 (circular) and stop at Méndez Álvaro station.

Valladolid Airport
Salamanca is 115 km southeast of Valladolid. There are regular train and bus connections.
Valladolid airport (Villanubla) is 11 km from the city centre. The best way to get to there is by taxi, which takes about 15 minutes and costs about €15.
You can also go by bus, which runs approximately every 90 minutes. There are several lines, the price is €3 and the journey time is about 30 minutes. For further information about the service, you can call +34 983230033 or consult the AENA website.

Madrid-Salamanca
- The trains depart from and arrive at Chamartín Station (telephone: +34 913 159 976) or Príncipe Pío Station (train tickets for the latter are usually on sale via the online platform only one or two months before the date of travel).
- Trains from Chamartín take 1 hr 40 min, and the timetable is as follows:
- Madrid-Salamanca: 8:30, 15:50 and 20:47.
- Salamanca-Madrid: 6:25, 7:15, 15:30 y 16:08 and 18:20.
- Trains from Príncipe Pío take between 2 and 3 hours, and the timetable is as follows:
- Madrid-Salamanca: 5:47, 7:35, 9:41, 12:28, 16:42 and 20:01.
- Salamanca-Madrid: 7:40, 11:10, 13:40, 15:25, 17:53, 19:37 y 21:10.
Valladolid-Salamanca

Salamanca bus station is a ten-minute walk from the conference venue.
Madrid-Salamanca
- The company that operates this route is Avanza bus.
- There is a regular direct bus service from Madrid airport to Salamanca, which stops at terminals 1 and 4 of Barajas airport.
- There are also buses to Salamanca from Estación Sur (Méndez Álvaro) bus station in Madrid every hour.
- You can buy tickets on the bus, but to ensure you get a seat, it is advisable to buy them beforehand on the company’s website (they usually go on sale on the online platform only a couple of months before the date of travel).
Valladolid-Salamanca
- The company that operates this route is Avanza bus.
- There is a bus approximately every two hours.
- Journey time: 1 hr 30 min.
Barcelona-Salamanca
There is an Alsa bus that covers the journey from Barcelona to Salamanca, departing at 9:00 and arriving at 21:30 (1 transfer), but at the moment there is no service from Salamanca to Barcelona.
Málaga-Seville-Salamanca
